Definition: Landing Page

Landing Page: A page other than the home page, that serves as a specific point of entry to your site. You can use landing pages to track the success of a specific social media or ad campaign, or to earn traffic for specific keyword phrases.

For example. Say you run two different PPC ad campaigns. You could create two different landing pages, one that links to each ad. In site metrics, you can then clearly see which landing page gets the most traffic, thus helping you determine which ad was more successful. In turn, you could run one ad with two landing pages that switch out in an A/B test format, to determine which page creates the most conversions.
